During softball practice at Ball High School, Cameron Blackwell took a hard slide into home plate, breaking her ankle. In agony, Cameron was whisked by ambulance to UTMB and into the care of Dr. John Hagedorn and his orthopaedic trauma team. To show her
gratitude for restoring her daughter to health, Cameron’s mother, Lori Blackwell, established the Hagedorn Award for the School of Medicine. The award benefits students who wish to specialize in orthopaedic medicine.
