The President's Cabinet
The UTMB President's Cabinet is a unique and distinctive organization, dedicated to helping advance the mission of one of our country’s oldest, largest and most dynamic academic health centers. Membership is composed of alumni, faculty, staff, university friends and community and business leaders.
President's Cabinet members make an important difference to UTMB. Since the Cabinet was formed in 1993, it has granted more than $5 million in awards to a variety of programs that advance and enhance our historic mission - and enrich the lives in the communities UTMB serves. These awards have been well chosen, as evidenced by the fact that many of the programs first funded by the President’s Cabinet have since been recognized and rewarded with federal grants. This speaks not only to the value and importance of the university’s efforts, but also to the wise judgment of Cabinet members as benefactors.
By giving unrestricted gifts—at least $1,000 for individuals ($500 for those age 40 and under) and $5,000 for corporations, foundations and other organizations—members receive the satisfaction of knowing that they are helping transform the health care environment in Texas and beyond, while also maintaining a commitment to preserve UTMB’s exemplary academic health care status.
The President's Cabinet goal is two-fold:
- First: to increase discretionary funding for emerging UTMB priorities, allowing the university to capitalize on new opportunities and meet unexpected challenges.
- Second: to provide a vehicle for the community and UTMB to become more interactive with healthcare programs.
We encourage you to become a President’s Cabinet member, and discover for yourself what a difference we can make now and in the future. Also, I urge you to explore our site and witness the impact past President’s Cabinet awards have made to the university, to the community, to Texas and beyond.
